218. Love and Obey the Lord: Not one of all the good promises the Lord gave has failed.
13 November 2021
Deuteronomy 11
1 Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always.
Joshua 23
11 "So be very careful to love the Lord your God.
14 Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.”
Love the Lord your God, I have written about this before:
When I looked at my previous reflection on the top verse Deuteronomy 11:1, I thought of searching for related verses and I came upon Joshua 23:11, 14.
Moses was also not allowed by the Lord to enter the Promised Land.
Joshua to Succeed Moses
Moses said to the Lord,
“May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community
to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him. Numbers 27:15-18
Joshua was faithful to the Lord, his leadership was with conviction, commitment and competence, that he would attest that not one of all the good promises the Lord gave has failed.
During last Sunday's message of our youthful Youth Pastor, Pastor Ian Israel Hibionada, he expounded on "Leadership under Christ's Lordship", to wit:
Ang taong hindi kayang pamahalaan ang sariling buhay, walang kakayahang pamahalaan ang buhay ng iba.
Pamamahala is a translation of leadership in tagalog, which evolved from Pamamathala with the root word Bathala, the early tagalog reference to God.
Leadership is determined by one's conviction, commitment, and competence.
Conviction in tagalog, pananalig o matibay na paniniwala.
Commitment is pangako o pinanatang gawin.
Competence is kakayahan o kasukatan.
Conviction improves not just an approach to solving issues but to learning how to evolve, adapt and make braver choice.
Commitment is persistence with purpose. It is what keeps you going in the face of adversity and challenges.
Competence is the ability to do something successfully or efficiently.
Conviction is manifested in John the Baptist, who proclaimed when he was about to baptize Jesus, that Jesus is the Christ. John 1:29-31
Commitment is to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18
Competence, one must set an example in their own behavior that matches the standard of the Scripture. 1 Timothy 3:2
If I am ever to accomplish my ultimate goal in life, to glorify God, I must be transformed more and more into His image, to become like Christ.
For us to be "conformed to the image of Jesus Christ," we must invest much time alone with Him in personal fellowship.
Leaders who are worth their salt and who will truly lead others spiritually must be people of the Word.
God wants to communicate with us through His Word. If we take time to meditate, we will experience the depth and greatness of the message, and the Spirit of God will speak to us and affect our lives.
Commitment to God means we believe that what we do for God will prosper.
To walk humbly before God, a leader needs to live a life of genuine praise.
Learn to pray for a stronger back, not a lighter load.
"I may have been selfish before.
I may have lived for my life before.
I may have just considered my family after my work and everything that belongs to me.
But now that Christ died for me, and I died with Him, and rose again with Him, my concern is no longer about myself.
My concern is what my Lord wants me to be." - Pastor Clem Guillermo

------
Joshua was a leader with conviction, commitment and competence, and what he did for God prospered, not one of all the good promises the Lord gave has failed.
Our Dear Pastor Clem lived the life of a modern day Joshua, what he did for God prospered.
Proclaim His Name Christian Fellowship (PCF) is celebrating its 15th Anniversary this November, around the birthday of Pastor Clem on November 23, it is fitting to commemorate that Pastor Clem exemplified leadership under Christ's Lordship.
My family and my children's families have been blessed by the life of Pastor Clem.
""I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.
The Lord is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.
The Lord protects the unwary;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you.
For you, Lord, have delivered me from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
What shall I return to the Lord
for all his goodness to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord." (Psalm 116:1-2, 5-9, 12-13). With praises and thanksgiving, this I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
16 February 2018"
May you be blessed with God's Word.
Maraming salamat.
