40. Wala ka sa Lolo ko. He loves the Lord God, for He heard his voice, He heard his cry for mercy.

God is love.
The epitaph of my father-in-law.

Mark 12
30 ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

Mark 12
The Greatest Commandment
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’”

How does this speak to you?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

God is love. (1 John 4:1 JJ6)

We love Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19 NKJV)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Let me share something I posted in June 2018, from what I originally wrote 23 October 2017.

“God is love”. That is what is written as epitaph of my father-in-law; he passed away October 2015.

His love for me helped me through my midlife crisis. I showed him my gratitude, I would hug him which I am not used to, and thanking him when we prayed together when he was confined at the hospital about 2 months before he passed away. Over the weekend, we watched the movie "Seven Sundays", a story of Filipino family through relational conflicts and the overarching love of family.

Daddy was then in the hospital, my son Paolo went up to the room ahead of me and my wife Marlou. When I came up, Paolo was seated by Daddy's bedside and was chatting saying, "Eh yan kilala mo yan?" pointing to me. Daddy replied, which I overheard, "Yan, si congressman yan" as his usual pabiro, and I smiled at Daddy as I asked Paolo to stand up, for me to sit by Daddy's bedside.

I held Daddy's hand and said, "Daddy magpray ako", and he nodded. I started kind of, "Lord, salamat for the words that Daddy did not utter at the time that I was out of work and was sick, when our children were starting college. I did not hear Daddy ask me, Picoy saan ka kukuha ng ipagpaaral mo sa mga anak mo?" What a relief and very kind understanding. Recalling, inside me I know Daddy has been praying for me back that time. I am forever grateful for Daddy for carrying me in prayer.

Mommy was seated near Marlou and teary-eyed overhearing what I was saying, Marlou later told me.

Maraming salamat Daddy. Advance Happy Birthday Daddy (June 15).

Advance Happy Father's Day.

The Lord worked a miracle in my life through severe affliction over a span of almost five years. No income, sick, depressed, at my wit's end so to speak, when our children were to start college, yet He worked things out. Two daughters went to exclusive school, tuition fee amounted to around a million pesos total, all the while that my pocket was empty, amazing!!! indeed. My personal encounter with the Lord, very powerful, I became a Christian at age 44.

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
    he heard my cry for mercy. (Psalm 116:1)

Luke 7
Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman
40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.

I ‘Love the Lord God with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my mind and with all my strength.’ (Mark 12:30)

Someday, my children's children will say, wala ka sa Lolo ko, he loves the Lord God, for He heard his voice, He heard his cry for mercy.

Here is Psalm 116 in song.

1 I love the Lord, because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.
2 Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
3 The pains of death surrounded me,
And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me;
I found trouble and sorrow.
4 Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”
5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
6 The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
7 Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
8 For You have delivered my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from falling.
12 What shall I render to the Lord
For all His benefits toward me?
13 I will take up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the Lord.
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His saints.

May you be blessed!

Maraming salamat.
