149. Wala ka sa Lolo ko. For him, we are blessed to bless others.

28 April 2021
He took his older brother's birthright, and his blessing too.

Genesis 27
41 Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. He said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

It runs in the family.

Abram (Abraham) and Sarai (Sarah) agreed for him to have a child with Hagar, impatient for God's promised offspring.

Abraham lied twice that Sarah was his sister, for fear for his life.

Isaac lied that Rebekah was his sister because he feared for his life. Genesis 26:7

Jacob manipulated Esau to take his older brother's birthright.

Rebekah set up things for Jacob to take the blessing to be given by Isaac to Esau.

These people with faults were chosen by God to be the lineage from which His Son Jesus Christ would descend.

The Lord blessed Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for the sake of His people Israel.

David, Israel's shepherd King was in the same lineage from which the Lord Jesus Christ would descend.

David was an adulterer and a murderer.

The Lord blessed David for the sake of His people Israel.

2 Samuel 5 NLT
12 And David realized that the LORD had confirmed him as king over Israel and had blessed his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

Have we realized that the Lord has blessed us for the sake of people around us, people whom we are to bless?

It's not difficult for us to see in ourselves the faults of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David. Yet, the Lord will bless us for the sake of people around us whom we can bless.

Blessings are not for us to keep for ourselves but to share with those around us.

It is in affliction that we experience the blessing of God through people who are around us, these are family and friends, or even people we meet the first time.

It may not be necessarily material blessing, it could be words of encouragement during our moments of seeming hopelessness.

I went through severe affliction and the blessing of God came through the kindness of Good Samaritans and people in the person of Barnabas (Acts 4:36).

I am forever grateful to the Lord and to the people who were channels of blessing in my time of adversity.

We are with faults, yet the Lord will bless us, so that we can bless others. Remember, nobody is without fault.

Blessing others can only be out of love.

"Lord, You humbled Jacob. "He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept" (Genesis 33:3-4). Lord, You let me through adversity and broke my spirit; "My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise" (Psalm 51:17). I thank You, Lord, Merciful God, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen."

One day, my children's children will say, wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, we are blessed to bless others.

May you be blessed with God's Word. Amen.

Maraming salamat.
