Acts 20
35 “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Acts 20
Paul’s Farewell to the Ephesian Elders
32 “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
33 I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.
34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions.
35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

You can give without loving, yet you cannot love without giving.

Let me share what I wrote 25 August 2017.

“I traced the Bible verses attributed by Apostle Paul.

Matthew 6:3-4 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Siksik, liglig at umaapaw pa.

Who doesn't want that? Yet, the requisite is to give until it hurts.

Luke 21:2-4 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

The Apostle Paul gave until it hurt. He gave his life.

2 Corinthians 11:24 -25 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea.

1 Corinthians 13:2-3  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

“Lord, what a tough act to follow, what a tall order. Yet, my giving is between You, Lord, and me, a being created in Your image. Lord, indeed what I just need to do is to be grateful to You and to others, and charity will spring naturally. Lord, help me to give from the heart, until it hurts, for such will not go unrewarded by an Ever Gracious God. Lord, I give You all the honor, in Jesus' name. Amen.””

My giving is between me and the Lord.

There was a time when I was in a lot of debts. For quite a period, I was out of work and I sunk into depression.

I had to sell the cars.

The house was to be foreclosed by the bank.

The children were to start college.

By God's grace, I overcame such severe affliction.

We were able to sell the house and pay off debts.

My two daughters attended Ateneo on scholarship, tuition fee I did not pay was about P1.0 M.

At this time, I have no house, yet anything else is better, everything else is a bonus, for I had been rock bottom.

For such generosity of Lord God Almighty, I put to heart the words of Apostle Paul, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

My children's children will someday say, wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, like Apostle Paul, it is more blessed to give than to receive. Amen.

Psalm 37
Of David.
25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
    or their children begging bread.
26 They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be a blessing.

May you be blessed.

Maraming salamat.
