119. Wala ka sa Lolo ko. For him, there is no righteousness apart from God in Jesus Christ.

Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God? (Psalm 71:19)
2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
The Apostle Peter.
"Do you think that we are too tough on Peter for denying Christ? Note that after the Resurrection, Jesus told the women: "Go tell my disciples and Peter." Why "and Peter"?
I see myself in Peter. I also see my neighbors and friends in him. Perhaps you see yourself in Peter as well. There's something of this man in us all, and the way God used him with his faults and failures gives me hope, for the God who changed his life is still in the business of changing people.
As I think of Mr. Peter, I think of four qualities or attributes.
First, he was a man of action. He never vacillated. He didn't play the grandstand. He may not have always been right, but you knew where he stood.
Second, Peter was a man of commitment and loyalty. Once Jesus entered his life, Peter quickly walked away from his nets and vowed allegiance to the Carpenter-Messiah from Galilee.
And third, Peter was a man of courage. When the temple guards siezed Jesus as He prayed alone in the garden, it was Peter who quickly drew his sword in defense.
As I think of Simon Peter, I also think of him as a man of conviction. "I say You are the Son of God!" shouts Peter as he waves his fist in the air to drive home his point."
The above is from "Heroes" by Dr. Harold J. Sala, pages 26 - 28.
Peter received the gift of faith.
"Those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours." 2 Peter 1:1
Well, a gift is something that has to be given to you. And what is given to you is something that you do not already possess. The Bible teaches that all unbelievers are dead in trespasses and sin. A dead person cannot believe in Christ." From: ask.ligonier website/podcast-episodes/how-is-faith-a-gift
Faith is righteousness.
2 Peter 1
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
Faith, way to goodness, ultimately to love; faith, way to righteousness.
Faith is a spiritual gift from God, thus righteousness is a gift from God.
Concerning Spiritual Gifts
1 Corinthians 12
4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.
8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit.
There is no righteousness apart from God in Jesus Christ.
Righteousness Through Faith
Romans 3
21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
I have received the spiritual gift of faith from God.
Wala ka sa Lolo ko, for him, there is no righteousness apart from God, this my children's children will one day utter.
May you be blessed with God's Word.
Maraming salamat.
