254. The Lord will renew your life: He will sustain you in old age.

24 February 2022
“He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age.”

Ruth 4
15 “He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.”

Psalm 92 KJV
13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.

Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall still bring forth fruit in old age.

Our fruit are our children and our children's children and succeeding generations.

What do the two above  genealogies have to do with Naomi?

By tradition written down by Moses (Luke 20:28), Obed the son of Boaz with Ruth is deemed the son of Ruth's first husband Mahlon. Mahlon was one of the two sons of Naomi and his husband Elimelek (also Elimelech). Boaz was a close relative of Mahlon, he was a guardian-redeemer (Ruth 2:20).

Our fruit is our influence on others.

I would say Naomi definitely had a positive influence on her daughter-in-law Ruth.

Ruth 1
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”

Honestly, it took some time for me thinking how to develop this blog until I got the idea of our children and our influence as our fruit.

Our children are gift from the Lord.

For my wife Marlou and I, we consider our children to be fruit of God's grace. They became Christians, at their own volition, few years after Marlou and I accepted Jesus as personal Lord and Savior in 2004.

Our eldest daughter is involved with the church's Communications Team attending to the online platform for the Sunday worship, mid-week prayer meeting and other related activities. She and our son-in-law are cell group leaders at church.

Our other daughter is enrolled with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), she and her husband are attending a cell group at church.

Our son, the youngest, and his wife are cell group leaders at church.

Marlou and I are also enrolled with BSF, and we are cell group leaders at church.

Our grandchildren have been introduced to Sunday school.

They will still bear fruit in old age,
    they will stay fresh and green,
proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
    he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” Psalm 92:14-15

""“Even to your old age and gray hairs
    I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
    I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Turn to me and be saved,
    all you ends of the earth;
    for I am God, and there is no other”" (Isaiah 46:4; 45:22).Lord, sustain me as I age; I shall go on proclaiming Your lovingkindness, in Jesus' name. Amen.

25 March 2018"

May you be blessed with God's Word.

Maraming salamat.
