224. The Lord redeemed us: Let our lips and soul shout for joy and sing praises to Him.
1 December 2021
Deuteronomy 24
18 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this.
17 Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge.
Psalm 71 NASB
23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You;
And my soul, which You have redeemed.
Job 19
25 I know that my redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
Job was the first to utter the word "redeemer", when he was in the midst of severe affliction, he lost his children and his possessions, and suffered painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
You may have seen the YouTube video: My Redeemer Lives - A true Ironman story https://youtu.be/ts8F6dV_0uM
It's about Dick Hoyt and his son Rick.
"Dick and Rick participate as a team in triathlons – grueling combinations of 26.2-mile runs, 112-mile bicycling, and 2.4-mile swims – a remarkable feat considering Rick’s inability to walk or talk. At birth, a coiled umbilical cord had wrapped around his neck, cutting off oxygen to his brain and leaving Rick a quadriplegic with cerebral palsy." Christ Living In Us
By: Albert Lee
We see a parallel between their story and our own Christian life. Just as Rick was dependent on his dad, we are dependent on Christ to complete our Christian race.
As we strive to live a God-pleasing life, we realize that in spite of our best intentions and determination, we often stumble and fall short. By our strength alone, it is impossible. Oh, how we need the Lord’s help! And it has been provided. Paul declares it with these insightful words, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God” (Gal. 2:20).
We cannot finish the Christian race on our own. We have to do so by depending on Jesus living in us."
The above-mentioned YouTube video of Dick and Rick Hoyt ends with this verse, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
""My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You;
And my soul, which You have redeemed.
My mouth is filled with Your praise
And with Your glory all day long.
For Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens,
You who have done great things;
God, who is like You?
Do not cast me away at the time of my old age;
Do not abandon me when my strength fails.
And even when I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation,
Your power to all who are to come." (Psalm 71:23, 8, 19, 9, 18 NASB). My God, my Redeemer, this I pray with praises and thanksgiving, in Jesus' name. Amen.
22 February 2018"
May you be blessed with God's Word.
Maraming salamat.
