Numbers 3
12 “I have taken the Levites from among the Israelites in place of the first male offspring of every Israelite woman. The Levites are mine,
13 for all the firstborn are mine. When I struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set apart for myself every firstborn in Israel, whether human or animal. They are to be mine. I am the Lord.”
Isaiah 43
1 But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”
This is what the Lord says—
I have redeemed you; you are mine.
Redeemed from debt.
Once I had been in serious financial debt.
At that time, I had no stable employment for about five years, 2000 - 2005, when my children were to start college. The cars had to be sold and I defaulted on the housing loan amortization, with the property at the risk of being foreclosed by the bank.
I sank into depression.
The sincerity of wife is known during difficult financial situation of the husband. - From fb post by Romeo Patricio
A friend lent me money to update the housing loan. I was worried that after another few months there will again be the risk of foreclosure.
My other concern was the tuition fee of my children in college.
The Lord redeemed me from further debt, my two daughters were admitted to Ateneo on free tuition. That's a million pesos total for the four-year course for each of them.
In 2004, Pastor Dan Guzman came to our house every Thursday for me to have one-on-one Bible study. At age 44, I became a Christian.
The following year, a friend bought our house and full payment was made in May 2006.
The Lord redeemed me from all financial debt.
I have no house, I mean I have no house or property in my name. Yet, that's the least of my worries.
Redeemed from the consequences of sin.
Furthermore, the Lord redeemed me from the consequences of my sins.
Isaiah 44
I can only be grateful for what the Lord has done. There is no God like Him.
Psalm 71 NASB
23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You,
And my soul, which You have redeemed.
The Lord has chastened me severely,
but he has not given me over to death.
I will not die but live,
and will proclaim what the Lord has done.
You are my God, and I will praise you;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever. Psalm 118:18, 17, 28-29
Wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, this is what the Lord says, I have redeemed you; you are mine, this my children's children will say someday.
""The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him (Colossians 1:15-16). Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit (Galatians 3:13-14). Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father”" (Galatians 4:6). Lord God, Abba, Father, thank You for redeeming me from my sins; I praise You, in Jesus' name. Amen.
25 January 2018"
May you be blessed with God's Word.
Maraming salamat.
