The Lord your God is the faithful God.

Deuteronomy 7

9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Deuteronomy 32

3 I will proclaim the name of the Lord.

    Oh, praise the greatness of our God!

4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect,

    and all his ways are just.

A faithful God who does no wrong,

    upright and just is he.

"Faithful God 

The name “Faithful God” encapsulates another of the attributes of God. God is true to His covenant promises to His people. 

The Hebrew root word for faithful includes the idea of confirmation or proof. God always proves to be reliable when it comes to His relationship with us. The Bible verse (Deuteronomy 7:9) in which this name of God appears links the name to God’s covenant reliability.

The Faithful God in Hebrew:

Ha’El hanne’eman

The root word behind this name is ’aman. “At the heart of the meaning of the root is the idea of certainty.” (J. B. Scott, in Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament Ed. R. Laird Harris, Moody Press, 1980, p.51)

The prophets proclaimed the same characteristics of God: Isaiah referred to “the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you” (Isa. 49:7). Hosea called God, “the Holy One who is faithful” (Hos. 11:12)."

Faithfulfulness of God in the Old Testament: 

It is implied in the covenant name Yahweh as unfolded in Exodus 3:13-15, which not only expresses God's self-existence and unchangeableness, but, as the context indicates, puts God's immutability in special relation to His gracious promises, thus denoting God's unchangeable faithfulness which is emphasized in the Old Testament to awaken trust in God (Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalms 36:5); Isaiah 11:5; Hosea 12:6,9).

It is, moreover, God's faithfulness as well as His immutability which is implied in those passages where God is called a rock, as being the secure object of religious trust (Deuteronomy 32:4,15; Psalms 18:2); 42:9 (Hebrew 10); Isaiah 17:10, etc.)."

God is faithful, in the words of Apostle Paul.

1 Corinthians 1

9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

4 I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 

5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— 

6 God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. 

7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 

8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Paul's readers, these troubled Corinthian Christians, were called by God into the fellowship of His own Son Jesus. All Christians are called into that fellowship. This tells us two things about what God intends for us. First, He does not mean to save us and then have us keep our distance until we arrive in eternity. God sees us as being in fellowship, a deep and direct relationship, with Him, with Christ. Second, Paul is emphasizing that all who are in Christ are, by definition, in relationship with each other."

"Isaac Hann was a little-known pastor who served a small church in Loughwood, England, in the mid-18th century. At the close of his ministry, the membership of the church numbered 26 women and 7 men. And only 4 of the men attended with any regularity.

In this age of mass media and mega-churches, who would consider this a successful work? In our world today, Isaac Hann would be considered one of those pastors who never quite “made it.” He certainly wouldn’t have been invited to speak at pastors’ conferences, nor would he have written articles on church growth.

Yet, when he died at 88 his parishioners placed a plaque on the wall of their meeting house that remains to this day. It reads in part:

Few ministers so humble were, yet few so much admired: Ripened for heaven by grace divine, like autumn fruit he fell;

Reader think not to live so long, but seek to live as well.

The Lord our God is the faithful God: He has called us into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ.

Stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
