1 Corinthians 12
19 If they were all one part, where would the body be?

Church. It is not complete without you.

Let me share my reflection 14 September 2017.

“1 Corinthians 14
12 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.
26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.

Church is not complete without you.....build up the church....that the church may be built up.

In the early church, the apostles did the preach and teach, and they grew in number. Some of the apostles were jailed and the church did the prayer, and same apostles miraculously escaped prison; the church could not believe the answer to their prayers.

The church selected men of the Spirit to look after the welfare of the widows among them. Some of them sold properties and gave the money to the church for those in need and for the needs of the church.

Some men were filled with the Spirit and did speak in tongues, speaking in the different languages and among them were those from other places using the language hence understood the different languages.

When the Apostle Paul was imprisoned in Rome, there were those who attended to his needs, with someone writing his dictation for the epistles.

The church is a body, like the human body consisting of many parts, with each part performing a specific and exclusive function; another part cannot replace for the other and vice-versa. There is a need for each part for the body to function. That was how Apostle Paul likened the church, the body of Christ, to the human body. The contribution of each one in the church is determined by the spiritual gift of each person; a talent or inclination when used for God becomes a spiritual gift. There is a test given to determine one's spiritual gifting.

That is unity in diversity, for God's glory.

I would joke, the test for spiritual gifts showed mine is choir.....choir lunch hehehe.

“Lord, let it be that I help in building up the church. Let me therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification (Romans 14:19). Let me be mindful that whatever I will do I will ask myself, will it bless the church, will it build up the church? Let me be able to encourage others to have same orientation; that if I will be a way to resolve any misunderstanding, then enable me by the Holy Spirit; this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.””

Yes, build up the church, that the church may be built up.

For the church, for the body of Christ, it is your faithfulness that matters.

From Our Daily Bread
By:  David H. Roper

“Isaac Hann was a little-known pastor who served a small church in Loughwood, England, in the mid-18th century. At the close of his ministry, the membership of the church numbered 26 women and 7 men. And only 4 of the men attended with any regularity.

In this age of mass media and mega-churches, who would consider this a successful work? In our world today, Isaac Hann would be considered one of those pastors who never quite “made it.” He certainly wouldn’t have been invited to speak at pastors’ conferences, nor would he have written articles on church growth.

Yet, when he died at 88 his parishioners placed a plaque on the wall of their meeting house that remains to this day. It reads in part:

“Few ministers so humble were, yet few so much admired: Ripened for heaven by grace divine, like autumn fruit he fell;

Reader think not to live so long, but seek to live as well.”

Reverend Isaac Hann “made it big” in a way that matters—humility before God and a reward in heaven. We can too.”

The CHURCH needs U. You are not a nobody in Christ.

Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58b)

“Wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, C H _ R C H is not complete without U”, this, my children's children will say one day.

The Lord bless you.

Maraming salamat.
