Leviticus 5
15 “When anyone is unfaithful to the Lord by sinning unintentionally in regard to any of the Lord’s holy things, they are to bring to the Lord as a penalty a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value in silver, according to the sanctuary shekel. It is a guilt offering.”
God’s Faithfulness
Romans 3
3 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?
4 Not at all!
Solomon was so blessed, yet was so unfaithful.
Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and made love to her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. The Lord loved him;
and because the Lord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah. 2 Samuel 12:24-25
Jedidiah means loved by the Lord.
Solomon Asks for Wisdom
At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
Solomon answered, “You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.”
“Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.
Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number.
So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this.
So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice,
I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.
Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings.
And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.” 1 Kings 3:5-14
Solomon’s Wisdom
God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.
Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.
He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. 1Kings 4:29-30, 32
Solomon is regarded to be the author of the Book of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs.
Yet towards the end of his life, Solomon was not fully devoted to the LORD his God.
As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.
He followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites.
So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done.
The Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice.
Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command.
So the Lord said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates.” 1 Kings 11:4-6, 9-11
Solomon was unfaithful at the end of his life.
If Solomon was unfaithful, will his unfaithfulness nullify God's faithfulness?
Not at all! All Scripture is God-breathed. The Lord used Solomon to have what are written in the Book of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs. Still God's faithfulness through His Word endures from generation to generation.
Maybe you have read about Pastors, even of megachurches, who have openly become unfaithful to the Lord. We may wonder whether what they have preached is in line with the Christian faith.
My personal belief is that what they preached will prove itself to be biblical. They were used by God to deliver His message, like in the case of Solomon.
2 Timothy 2
13 If we are faithless,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself.
""I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." (Psalm 9:1). "You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you." (Psalm 118:28). "The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you." (Psalm 9:9-10). "When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD; he brought me into a spacious place. I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever" (Psalm 118:5, 21, 17, 29). This I pray in Jesus' name. Amen."

May you be blessed with God's Word.
Maraming salamat.
