“You shall have no other gods before me..” Exodus 20:3

Exodus 20:3 Or besides

The Ten Commandments

Exodus 20
1 And God spoke all these words:

First Commandment
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

Second Commandment
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Third Commandment
7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

Fourth Commandment
8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Fifth Commandment
12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Sixth Commandment
13 “You shall not murder.

Seventh Commandment
14 “You shall not commit adultery.

Eighth Commandment
15 “You shall not steal.

Ninth Commandment
16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

Tenth Commandment
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

The Israelites are God's treasured possession out of all the nations on earth.

Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel:
‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.
Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,
you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” Exodus 19:3-6

The Israelites are the apple of God's eye.

Zechariah 2
8 For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye—
9 I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me.”

The Israelites would then worship idols sinning against the Lord, and the Lord would forgive them.

Isaiah 44
22 “I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me,
    for I have redeemed you.”

Israel is the nation Israel today, the people whom God chose to be His treasured possession.

In Christ, we are also God's treasured possession.

John 3
14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I believe in Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

I testify to the miracle Lord Jesus worked in my life.

I had no stable employment over a period of 5 years when my children were to start college, God provided through His glorious riches in Jesus Christ for my children to finish college.

““You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” (Deuteronomy 5:7-10). “LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:9). Praise, honor and glory are Yours, in Jesus' name. Amen.””

Someday, my children's children will say, “Wala ka sa Lolo ko. He has no other gods before Lord Jesus Christ.”

May you be blessed with God's Word.

Maraming salamat.
