143. Wala ka sa Lolo ko. For him, we are children of Abraham and heirs according to the promise to Abraham.

So shall your offspring be. Genesis 15:5b

Genesis 15
2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”
3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
4 Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.”

A son who is your own flesh and blood.

Fathers would commonly want to have a son or sons to bring on his surname.

Our first child was expected to be a son by the facial looks of Marlou my wife when she was pregnant. She had difficulty in labor, I was in anguish seeing her in pain; our first child, a daughter, was born through caesarean section.

It must be that the facial looks of Marlou during second pregnancy suggested another daughter, and yes a second daughter also through caesarean section.

During Marlou's third pregnancy I must have been not very mindful whether I would have a son and was really after her safe delivery through caesarean section and then ligation.

I was more concerned for the safety of my wife and my third child, because days before delivery, Marlou was still working in the bank and a hold-up happened, she was made to lie flat on the floor along with the other employees.

Incidentally, early during Marlou's third pregnancy, I suffered recurring dizziness. On the advice of a co-employee, I consulted a particular doctor, to be told that my wife is pregnant and it's a son. There was no gender reveal in 1989, so yes a son through caesarean section then ligation.

I am thankful to the Lord having given me a son, who now has two sons, a 3-year old and a 1 and 1/2-year old.

I am blessed to have a son with two sons; my own flesh and blood are my heirs.

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29

Genesis 17
5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.

So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. Galatians 3:6-9

Galatians 3
16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.
17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.
18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

"Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced. He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations, the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac" (Psalm 105:1-5, 8, 9). Lord, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, I give You praise, You be glorified. This I pray in Jesus' name. Amen."

One day, my children's children will say, wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, we are children of Abraham and heirs according to the promise to Abraham. Amen.

May you be blessed with God's Word.

Maraming salamat.
