Daddies, give voice to your love.
Sharing my voice.
Dear Vannie, Paty and Paolo,
I intended to provide for your college like from when you started school. That was how your Lolo Ofring did for us his six children. Mama looked after you full-time when you were growing up. That was how I wanted things to be, we grew up having your Lola Etring at home full-time.
You would remember we even had our own school service and Mama brought your lunch to school. That was the way I wanted things to be.
Had it been like that all the way, I would have been proud of myself. I was then nearing 40 I thought I was somebody, recently realized the case of Moses.
Then failure struck and I realized I was nobody, my abilities amounted to nothing, I could not provide for my own family. I would later read 1 Timothy 5:8, "Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever". It was terrible feeling inutile.
Reality is that, as Proverbs 16:9 says, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."
You know my story, you are part of my story. You were with me in the wilderness, in affliction. The Lord rescued me, rescued us. He restored my health, he restored my life in a way I myself would not imagine. He worked a miracle in my life, in our family.
Had my own plans happened, I would have been a very proud man especially like today Father's Day.
Instead, I am an everyday grateful man for the Lord's compassions. They are new every morning. Great is his faithfulness, as Lamentations 3:22-23 reads, "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
The Lord blessed our family, our house, in a way I could not imagine. My prayer for you, for our family, is as that of King David's in 1 Chronicles 17:27, "Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Lord, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.”
Indeed the Lord is sovereign, Isaiah 55:8-9 reads, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
As of the moment, I have no properties to leave behind. Unless some things come up, it is only my faith in the Lord Almighty that can be your inheritance, a priceless inheritance I consider.
This Father's Day, I give voice for my love for you Vannie, Paty and Paolo. God is good all the time. All the time, God is good. Amen.
