256. God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets that His Messiah would suffer: Repent and turn to God that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

5 March 2022
A prophet of the Lord.

1 Samuel 3
20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord.

Acts 3
24 “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days.
18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer.”

Acts 3
19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

He became sin, who knew no sin
That we might become his righteousness
He humbled himself and carried the cross
Love so amazing, love so amazing
Jesus Messiah, Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners, the ransom from heaven
Jesus Messiah, Lord of all
His body the bread, his blood the wine
Broken and poured out all for love
The whole earth trembled, and the veil was torn

From: Our Daily Bread

"The biblical theme of refreshing has a variety of physical and spiritual meanings. In Scripture we read of refreshment by resting on the Sabbath (Ex. 23:12), with cool water after physical activity (Judg. 15:18-19), by soothing music (1 Sam. 16:23), and with encouraging fellowship (2 Tim. 1:16).

The apostle Peter describes a time of spiritual refreshment that took place on the Day of Pentecost. He exhorted his listeners to repent and respond to the gospel “that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19). The apostle’s statement was especially meaningful to the Jewish audience with its reference to the millennium when Messiah would rule. But the good news of spiritual life would also be extended to the Gentiles (Acts 10).

Even now as believers we can experience a time of refreshing by quieting our hearts in a devotional time of prayer and Bible reading. When we spend time alone with the Lord, we can experience His peace and joy which renew us in spirit.

When we draw near to God, our minds are refreshed and our strength is renewed."

I was downcast. I shied away from family and friends. It was a long season of famine and severe affliction. I did not know what to do, I was getting crazy.

In December 2014. No trace of famine and severe affliction encountered during the period 2000 - 2005.

Around those times, for several occasions, my wife Marlou would tell me we are going to Pizza Hut at Robinson's Lipa for dinner with Kuya Nani and Ate Becks. I never felt awkward, they made me feel loved, they cared about my plight and would later lend me P 90,000 to update the housing loan amortization, which could have gone to the drain had the house been foreclosed by the bank. Good thing, Marlou was able to arrange sale of the house, sa kanyang kinakapatid, inaanak ng biyenan ko; I was able to pay off all debts.

""“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint” (Jeremiah 31:25). Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him" (Psalm 62:5), in Jesus' name. Amen.

May you be blessed with God's Word.

Maraming salamat.
