230. The Lord will never leave us: Do not let our hearts be troubled.

Joshua 1
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide:
5 “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
John 14
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”
It tells us just the opposite: God helps the helpless." Paraphase from Our Daily Bread
The Lord Jesus had compassion for the helpless.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36
Compassion.
In our Bible study, it was asked what are the similarities and differences in Jesus' feeding of the 5000 in Matthew 14, and feeding of the 4000 in Matthew 15.
I did not know the first one was in Jewish territory while the second one was in non-Jewish territory or in Gentile territory.
Matthew 15 also highlighted the great faith of the Canaanite woman in contrast to the hypocrisy of the Pharisees in Matthew 14.
In both instances of the feeding of the multitude, it was mentioned Jesus was moved with compassion.
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14
Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.” Matthew 15:32
The Lord helps the helpless, He has compassion on the helpless.
He will never leave the helpless.
The Lord Jesus showed compassion to the Jewish and to the Gentiles, He has compassion for everyone coming to Him for help.

You can reread it over and over.
We can only come to God in true prayer when we are helpless.
I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast within me.
Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:19-23)
Disappointments are God's appointment. Amen.
Do let our hearts be troubled.
