Leviticus 19
9 “‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest.
10 Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.’”
Proverbs 19
17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward them for what they have done.
The heart of God is for the poor, the lost and the needy.
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”
“All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.
Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” Luke 18:18-24
Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.
A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.
He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd.
So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:1-10
The Sheep and the Goats
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.
All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’” Matthew 25:34-40, 31-33, 41
We can give without loving, yet we cannot love without giving.
""The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise him - may your hearts live forever! (Psalm 22:26). The poor will see and be glad - you who seek God, may your hearts live! The LORD hears the needy and does not despise his captive people (Psalm 69:32-33). He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap (Psalm 113:7). Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor" (Proverbs 19:17, 22:9). Lord, You deserve all the praises, Your love endures forever, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, let us be kind to the poor and the Lord will reward us, this my children's children will say someday.
May you be blessed with God's Word.
Maraming salamat.
Once I was the one in need and received help from family and friends. Now that God has blessed me there is no hesitation to help those in need. Be a blessing too.
