179. Wala ka sa Lolo ko. For him, blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in His commands.

Everything the Lord commanded.

Exodus 38
22 (Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything the Lord commanded Moses;
23 with him was Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan—an engraver and designer, and an embroiderer in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen.)

Psalm 112
1 Praise the Lord.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands.

Are you experiencing disappointments? Are you beset by misgivings? Are you drained emotionally and feeling weak?

Dear Friend, take heart.

The Gospel saves people not who are strong. The Gospel saves people who will admit they are sinners and that they're weak.

That is the gist of the Sunday message of our youthful Pastor Ian Hibionada, online at our church Proclaim His Name Christian Fellowship. (When accessing the video, please start at frame 33:20; you may set cell phone screen to landscape mode to easily adjust frame counter.)

It was past middle of his message that the high point emerged.

The message started with the passages in Genesis 29 when Jacob arrives in Paddan Aram, the place of his Uncle Laban, the brother of his mother Rebekah.

As you may know, Jacob had to run away from home because he deceived his older brother Esau twice.

Jacob fell for his Uncle's younger daughter Rachel, and agreed to work for 7 years for her to be his wife.

Laban deceived Jacob and instead gave the older daughter Leah. Jacob then worked another 7 years to have Rachel also as his wife.

Through time, Leah was longing for love from Jacob. She bore three sons while Rachel was childless.

Leah named his first son Reuben, for she said, “It is because the Lord has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now.”

She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Because the Lord heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too.” So she named him Simeon.

Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.

She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah.

Through time, Leah was healed of her misery, she turned to the Lord.

The Lord gave Leah the honor to be an ancestor of our Lord Jesus Christ, through the lineage of Judah.

Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands. Psalm 112:1

Leah brought her disappointments before the Lord. The Lord gave her the grace to love Jacob unconditionally, to find delight in His commands and from her lips came praise for God, and she was blessed to be the mother to Judah from whose lineage would come the Lion of Judah, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. What a blessing!

Lessons from Pastor Ian's message:

1. Live your life wisely by overcoming disappointments in life.
2. Allow God to heal you, free you from your brokenness.
The Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.”

Disappointments are God's appointment.

Psalm 51
17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart
    you, God, will not despise.

Confide with the Lord, and He will give you the grace to delight in His commands.

Wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in His commands, this my children's children will utter someday.

""Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant. Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. In you, LORD my God, I put my trust" Psalms 25:8-9, 6, 17, 18, 1). This I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

8 January 2018"

May you be blessed with God's Word.

Maraming salamat.

  1. I'm reminded of this verse from the story of Leah...

    Matthew 6:33
    English Standard Version
33 But (A)seek first (B)the kingdom of God and his righteousness, (C)and all these things will be added to you.

What an enlightening message taken out from very familiar passages. Credits too to the young pastor mentioned in your blog.

May God continue to light your path in blogging for God's glory.
