“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”
Exodus 34
6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,
7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”
Exodus 34
14 Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
The Lord is slow to anger.
The Israelites committed a terrible sin by worshiping an idol cast in the shape of a calf.
The Lord whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Exodus 34:14
The Israelites owed gratitude to the Lord having brought them out from slavery in Egypt.
The Lord did not destroy the Israelites. The Lord is slow to anger.
The anger of the Lord subsided after Moses pleaded and sought the favor of the Lord. Moses made the difference for the Israelites, he found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Exodus 33:12; 34:8
This why the Lord is slow to anger. The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Exodus 33:11
Moses was a friend of God.
The Lord Jesus, when arrested by the religious leaders, was denied by Peter three times. John 18:17, 25, 27
Before getting arrested, the Lord opened his heart to his disciples which included Peter.
John 15
13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
After His resurrection, the Lord Jesus restored Peter. As Peter earlier denied the Lord Jesus three times, the Lord asked Peter three times if he loves Him. John 21:15-17
Peter was deciding to go back to fishing before the Lord Jesus came to Him after His resurrection.
Then the Lord Jesus said to Peter, "Follow me!" (John 21:19). The Lord Jesus restored Peter, he went to be a leader of the first century church.
Peter committed a terrible sin. The Lord Jesus is slow to anger.
The Book of James makes mention of another friend of God, Abraham.
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. James 2:23, 21-22
I believe God, I believe in His Son Jesus Christ who redeemed me from my sins.
I am a friend of God. The Lord Jesus is slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Here's a parable about the persistent friend.
Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread;
a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’
And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’
I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. Luke 11:5-8
This story in Luke 11 is about the Lord Jesus' teaching to his disciples on prayer.
Here's the continuation.
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?
Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13
We can come to the Lord with shameless audacity (willingness to take bold risks) in prayer and He will not take it against us. How much more our Heavenly Father will give what we ask!
Dear Friend, remember the Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
""Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, my soul" (Psalm 103:1, 8, 2-5, 22). This I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Wala ka sa Lolo ko; he is grateful, the Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, this my children's children will utter someday.
May you be blessed with God's Word.
Maraming salamat.
