Exodus 17
9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”
15 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.
16 He said, “Because hands were lifted up against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”
The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Exodus 17:8
Who are the Amalekites?
From Wikipedia.
Amalek (/ˈæməlɛk/; Hebrew: עֲמָלֵק, ‘Ámālēq, Arabic: عماليق ‘Amālīq) is a nation described in the Hebrew Bible as an enemy of the Israelites. The name "Amalek" can refer to the nation's founder, a grandson of Esau; his descendants, the Amalekites; or the territories of Amalek which they inhabited.
As a people, the Amalekites were identified as a recurrent enemy of the Israelites.This role appears in several stories:
In Exodus 17:8–16, Amalek makes war against Israel in the wilderness. Joshua is ordered by Moses to lead Israel in battle, and Moses watches from a hillside. When Moses' hand is raised, Israel prevails, but when it is lowered, Israel falters. So he keeps his hand raised through the entire battle, even having assistants hold him up, so that the battle will go to Israel.
The Lord is my Banner.
The chapter recounts that Israel had the advantage over Amalek as long as Moses, watching the battle from a vantage point, held his staff aloft.
Matthew Henry considered that Jehovah-nissi (The Lord is my banner) "probably refers to the lifting up of the rod of God as a banner in this action. The presence and power of Jehovah were the banner under which they enlisted, by which they were animated and kept together, and therefore which they erected in the day of their triumph."
"Jehovah-nissi", from Wikipedia.
The Septuagint translators believed nis·si′ to be derived from nus (flee for refuge) and rendered it "the Lord My Refuge", while in the Vulgate it was thought to be derived from na·sas′ (hoist; lift up) and was rendered "Jehovah Is My Exaltation".
In many modern Christian translations, such as the New International Version, the name is translated “the LORD is my banner."

noun
The Lord is my Banner. The Lord my Refuge.
Psalm 73
28 But as for me, it is good to be near God.
I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:2, 1, 9-10, 14-16
Financially, I was dislocated during the period 2000-2005 being out of work in gaps over that long period. It was the time that my children were to start college. It was utterly demoralizing for me as bread winner.
Then I found salvation through Lord Jesus Christ, I was saved from serious danger and severe difficulty.
Salvation belongs to our God!
I testify, there is no salvation except through our Lord Jesus Christ.
""Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint" (Isaiah 40:28-31). Lord, You are my refuge and strength, I praise You in Jesus' name. Amen.
