Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed

Genesis 19
24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens.
28 He (Abraham) looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.

2 Peter 2
7 And if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless
9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.

The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials.

This should be comforting indeed, for everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

2 Timothy 3
12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

On the other hand, the Lord will hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.

Ezekiel 18
21 “But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.
22 None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live.
23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

The Lord does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked.

Righteousness Through Faith

Romans 3
21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

In the midst of whatever trial we are confronting, especially with the pandemic that no one is exempted, let us give our burdens to the Lord.

Psalm 55 (NLT)
22 Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, He will never let the righteous be shaken. Amen.

Psalm 55 KJV

As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:16-17 KJV

"The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned." (Psalm 34:15, 17, 18-19, 22) Lord, You are my refuge in the midst of trials, You are my strength. Yours are power and majesty, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

I have put my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

My righteousness is through faith in Jesus Christ.

Someday, my children's children will utter, wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials.

May you be blessed with God's Word. Amen.

Maraming salamat.
