1 John 1
The Incarnation of the Word of Life
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
This is eternal life.
The Rich Man and Lazarus
“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.
In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.
And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
“‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’” Luke 16:19-31
Eternal life. So simple.
Luke 23
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Yet so elusive.
Luke 18
23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.
24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!
25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
Where we spend eternity solely depends on our personal decision to receive Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. Nothing else. That is what the Bible says.
Hebrews 9
27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.
Romans 6
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Fear the Lord
Deuteronomy 10
17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.
The answer is no, we are not God and therefore, we have no say of their souls after they had died.
We are not going to sway God by asking Him to show mercy on someone who has already died, if they don’t believe in Him, they will not have eternal life.
Pray for unbelievers before they pass away and cry out to God on behalf of them. Share the Gospel with them and be bold in your faith! Their eternity is on the line."
Let me share my prayer 26 October 2017.
"Heavenly Father, "....if I walk in the light, as You are in the light, I have fellowship with another, and the blood of Jesus, Your Son, purifies me from all sin. If I confess my sins, You are faithful and just and will forgive me my sins and purify me from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9). ... if I obey Your word, love for God is truly made complete in me. This is how I know I am in You: Whoever claims to live in You must live as Jesus did (1 John 2:5-6). And this is what You promised me —eternal life (1 John 2:25). Lord, thank You for Your promise to me of eternal life, this I pray in Jesus' name. Amen."
Wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, eternal life is what God promised, this my children's children will say one day.
May you be blessed with God's Word. Amen.
Maraming salamat.
