Spiritual Fullness in Christ

Colossians 2
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

Let me share my reflection 30 September 2017.

"My debt. It has been paid in full.

I am going to heaven. Ang yabang ko naman. Yet, that is what Scripture says.

I grew up learning about religion, the work of man to connect with God.

The affliction I went through taught me to pray to God the Father and come to Him, Abba Father, the endearing call of a child to his father, the child to a father, on the basis of relationship, not religion.

Relationship, the work of God to connect to man, to work out my redemption from my sins through the sacrifice on the cross of the Lord Jesus, the Son of God.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

That is for everyone who puts his faith in the Lord Jesus. This is what is written in Scripture.

"Lord, there was a time that if my anguish could be weighed and all my misery be placed on the scales! It would surely outweigh the sand of the seas (Job 6:2-3), and I thought it was my end. Yet, those who suffer You deliver in their suffering; You speak to them in their affliction (Job 36:15). Lord, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes —I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (Job 19:25-27). Lord, Gracious God, there is no one like You, and there is no God but You (2 Samuel 7:22). I give You all praise, honor and glory, in Jesus' name. Amen.""

Luke 18
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:
10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.
12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Luke 23
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence?
41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Comfort for the Contrite

Isaiah 57
For this is what the high and exalted One says—
he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
“I live in a high and holy place,
but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly
and to revive the heart of the contrite.
16 I will not accuse them forever,
nor will I always be angry,
for then they would faint away because of me—
the very people I have created.

Psalm 51
A psalm of David.
1 Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart
    you, God, will not despise.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise. Amen.

One day, my children's children will say wala ka sa Lolo ko; his debt has been paid in full.

May you be comforted with God's Word.

Maraming salamat.
