Paul’s Chains Advance the Gospel

Let me share my reflection 28 September 2017.

"Nothing to lose. Nothing to fear.

Philippians 1
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Philippians 1
13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

Apostle Paul did not fear being imprisoned.

Acts 21
11 Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says, ‘In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”

Even in the face of his impending martyrdom, he remained steadfast.

Philippians 2
Do Everything Without Grumbling
17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

As he similarly said, For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near (2 Timothy 4:6).

What may have been also heartening for him was the faithfulness of the Philippians, especially that the Philippians were a giving church.

Philippians 1
4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy
5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.

"Lord, I have nothing to lose in sharing the gospel of God's grace with people around me especially those close to me. I have everything to gain, for I put my faith in You that You will touch their hearts, for it is faith that pleases You (Hebrews 11:6). Lord, I have nothing to fear in sharing the gospel, and I shall take courage (Acts 23:11). Lord, by Your Spirit, I shall be steadfast in the faith, courageous and strong (1 Corinthians 16:13); may Your name be glorified, in Jesus' name. Amen. ""

Nothing to lose. Nothing to fear.

Being a real man is being able to do what God wants to do in your life. - Rev. Clem Guillermo.

From Book "Legacy, One Man to Another" (A Compilation, 2005)

"He is Yours" by Clem E. Guillermo

"When my father told the Lord, "He is Yours", my father gave me the best gift. Following the Lord's will by becoming a pastor was best decision I ever made.

I will never forget when I told my father that I was quitting college to go to the seminary. We were having family devotion that time. My father's silence made me think he did not agree with my decision. But he prayed a simple prayer that made us all cry. "Lord, alam mo na siya lang ang pag-asa namin sa buhay". I think that means financially, if I finish college. "Pero, kung tinawag Mo siya, sa Iyo na siya." My father was willing to sacrifice for God's call upon my life.

When my father let me follow God's call, the Lord proved Himself to me and to my father by providing for me, by letting me experience things I have never dreamed of and giving me the best in life. I testify that I have made the right choice and I am happy with it.

Being a real man is being able to do what God wants you to do in your life. Anyone who follows the charge of the Lord will never be mistaken."

Nothing to lose. Nothing to fear.

The other day, I saw in video our eldest grandchild, going 4 years old, singing, I have decided to follow Jesus. What a comfort.

"Wala ka sa Lolo ko; for him, he has nothing to lose, nothing to fear", this my children's children will say in time someday.

We have nothing to lose, we have nothing to fear, with life in Jesus Christ. Amen.

Maraming salamat.
