Quote from LIVINGFORJESUS
Appointing Elders Who Love What Is Good
Titus 1
9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
Sharing my reading and reflection 11 October 2017.
"Titus 1
14 and (they) will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.
Titus 2
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
From: LIVINGFORJESUS
“Jacob was a cheater, Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Paul was a murderer, Gideon was insecure, Miriam was a gossip, Martha was a worrier, Thomas was a doubter, Sara was impatient, Elijah was moody, Moses stuttered, Abraham was old, and Lazarus was dead.
God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the CALLED!"
It is by the grace of God that we get the privilege to be called by God, it is by the grace of God that we get qualified, qualified to be among the few that are chosen by Him. For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people (Titus 2:11)
"Lord, Your grace is so plain and yet so mysterious, for it works in the heart and escapes the mind. It is so simple and yet so complicated. It is available to all and yet it escapes from many. It is heard by many but only few listen. It is free, yet many work hard for Your approval, to be righteous in their own right, more righteous than the next person. Yet, Lord, As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10). For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). Lord, the grace You give, with all my heart the grace I receive, this I pray in Jesus' name. Amen."
Earthly comfort and success can go together with love for God.
Yet by the 1900's, in his 50's he was so sick that he could only eat crackers and milk. He was on his deathbed. Newspapers had written his obituary. They thought he was going to die. At the same time, he was hung in effigy because people hated him and said he was full of greed."
In the early 1900's he began wearing rotating wigs of various lengths to make it seem as though his hair had grown and had been cut."
"He called himself a Christian, so what happened? Although he realized God had given him the gift to accumulate wealth, the gift had become a curse because he didn’t seek or know his true purpose in gathering wealth.
One night, when he couldn’t sleep, he sought God and received a vision. He realized in the vision that the Lord was saying, “All the money in the world will do you no good in heaven or hell. Your job and your responsibility are to give it away.”
The next morning he took action. He gathered his staff and formed a foundation. His philanthropy has changed the world, set the pattern for other philanthropists, and wiped out many diseases during the early part of that century.
Like many miracles, as He found his true calling, his health turned around and he spent the next 40 years giving away the wealth he had accumulated. When he discovered his true calling, he received the peace of mind that came with it. His inner healing led to his outer physical healing.
As John Beehner wrote in his first book True Wealth By the Book years ago, the Lord gave him these words: "True wealth is not a measure of success but a measure of responsibility.""
That man is John D. Rockefeller.
The need of others - an attitude of concern for the well-being of others. One saying goes: "The world uses people to get money, but Christians use money to get people.
The Greatest Commandment
Matthew 22
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’”
My children's children will someday utter, wala ka sa Lolo ko; he agrees, God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
Be blessed.
Maraming salamat.
