71. Wala ka sa Lolo ko. He does not trust a man who walks without a limp.

“Don't trust a man who walks without a limp.
1 Corinthians 1
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
1 Corinthians 1
29 so that no one may boast before him.
I have come about this in the past, I searched again the article:
“The Patriarch Jacob, who was a manipulator, such is the meaning of his name, when his life was threatened by fear of revenge by his older twin brother Esau, he spent a night wrestling with God, and God wrenched his hip so that ever after he walked with a limp (Genesis 32:22-32); a physical handicap that must have made Esau feel for his brother and embraced him instead of attacking him. In the wrestling encounter, God changed Jacob's name to Israel, to be the father of the twelve tribes of the nation of Israel, a blessing of God for a flawed man after He dealt with him.”
It could be physical limp, or spiritual limp for taking godly stance; there is mention of a passage referring to Caleb.
Caleb was unjustly discredited, he stood by the promise of God and he was rewarded.
Numbers 14
24 But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.
Number 13
30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”
32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.
Numbers 14
6 Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes
7 and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good.
8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.
“Lord, deal with the schemer in me and purify my heart, little by little in every way, that eventually all my trust be in God alone. Lord, You have saved me from danger, in situations at my wit’s end; You have given me grace, undeserved favor, let gratitude be in my heart that I live life worthy of a child of God. This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.””
We have been taught to use to full extent our strengths (as in strengths and weaknesses), to put our best foot forward.
Could be nothing wrong at all. Except if we put others to undue disadvantage.
I have been discredited, accused of corruption, of favoring a job applicant; his credentials were complete.
The other applicant lacked the training requirement, had connection, attended training after the deadline and the certificate was submitted and transmitted to my office. I returned it, pinagiisipan pa ba yun.
I was made to suffer, taken out from the job, and was the subject of administrative and criminal complaints.
That was more than three and a half years ago, and then an encouraging development. The other day, I received copy of the resolution, the administrative and criminal complaints have been dismissed.
I used to be proud of my strengths, brain and brawn.
The Lord dealt with me, then I found grace in Him. He broke my hip and put on me a limp.
James 4
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
How could I commit such moral blunder? The Lord provided for the college education of my children, at a time when I was in severe famine and affliction. I cannot commit such ingratitude.
From where I am now, in my senior years, with my retirement benefits hanging, I put all my trust in the Lord Jesus.
Stranger than fiction.
My children's children will say, wala ka sa Lolo ko; he does not trust a man who walks without a limp.
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
May you be blessed.
Maraming salamat.
