Acts 24
Paul’s Trial Before Felix
24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus.
26 At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.
27 When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison.
Acts 25
Festus Consults King Agrippa
14 Since they were spending many days there, Festus discussed Paul’s case with the king. He said: “There is a man here whom Felix left as a prisoner.
18 When his accusers got up to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected.”
Integrity, from the word integer.
It means whole number, not fraction.
Let me share something I wrote 28 August 2017.
“Apostle Paul maintained his integrity in the face of malicious allegations. He continued to suffer imprisonment.
End of term or appointment, that was the reason I moved out of a job. Prior to that, there were allegations made against me, yet I was absolved. Good there was immediately an offer for another job, telling me, dito ka na, mag enjoy ka dito. Such events resulted to my earned leaves being monetized, providing pocket money for our trip to the US; then, I was paid full salary while in the US even if I don't have leave entitlement. I was made to submit work reports by email while on travel. What a privilege!
“Lord, indeed You are good, You made things work for my good. You know, Lord, my heart's desire is to get a job with a permanent appointment, for retirement benefit purposes considering my age. I trust You will grant my prayer, all I have to do is to keep my integrity whole. I shall keep my heart from malice and bribery for such will bring ruin. Lord, let me continue to dwell in Your safekeeping, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.””
My father was a man of principle, a man of integrity. He was a high school graduate; he started as a teacher, then became a policeman, Inay would tell us he left the service kasi ayaw niya ng tong sa sugalan. He was later a head operator at an oil refinery, he was diligent, he was vice president of the labor union.
1 Peter 3
13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?
14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”
Someday my children's children will say, wala ka sa Lolo ko, he maintained his integrity in the face of malicious allegations.
Psalm 25
Of David.
1 In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
11 For the sake of your name, Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
21 May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope, Lord, is in you.
May you be blessed. Amen.
Maraming salamat.
