32. Wala ka sa Lolo ko. He keeps watch and would not let his house be broken into.

Make-up. For almost all of us, especially men, in this lifetime, will at least for once be put on with make-up.

Matthew 24
The Day and Hour Unknown
43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.

Matthew 24
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

The thief. There is this graphic going rounds in the internet. The irony of life.

Only a thief wishes you prosperity in life and that you have a good sleep. Yes, irony of life.

While, the lawyer hopes you get into trouble, the doctor hopes you get sick, the landlord hopes you don't buy a house, the dentist hopes your teeth decay, the mechanic hopes your cars breakdown.

Of course, the top verse pertains to our spirituality, not to our physicality.

But before dwelling on being watchful spiritually, let me share my own experience having my house broken into.

Yes, somebody broke into our house, maybe that was in 1999, daytime while there was nobody home.

Actually nothing seemed missing, the thief had a poor pay that day.

The front door lock had a broken latch, so the handyman in me, I drilled a hole on the concrete wall rear side of what is sliding narra wood door for putting a large nail as lock, and we exit by the back swing door.

My wife Marlou and I don't keep money at home and no precious jewelry.

It must be that my house was targeted because at that time three cars would be parked in the garage, if I am not mistaken, my company service vehicle, brand new Toyota Corona Exsior AT, a first gen Nissan Urvan bought through a bank loan, and a converted RHD Nissan Caravan used by my wife to bring lunch to our children in school.

I don't know if it was inside job, somebody knowing about the improvised front door lock, the intruder forced open dislodging the nail lock.

It was traumatic for my wife to see everything thrown around in frenzy search of the thief. Yet, we would recall, we were still thankful it was not at night when we would be sleeping and we could be hurt by the intruder.

The thief just realized I was not moneyed after all even if I would be dressed in long sleeves and driving a flashy car. His intelligence source was unreliable.

Thereafter, I put a brand new latch lock at the front door, even if I would say it became known among thieves in our area that my house is not worth venturing into.

In 2006 we sold the house to Marlou's kinakapatid. There has been no repeat of such intrusion into my former house.

Now going to the topic of being watchful spiritually. I would not make it complicated.

For probably all of us in this lifetime, the Son of God will come in our hour of physical death. Indeed, it is the hour of our death that we must be ready literally, and most importantly spiritually.

The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Here is something from Wikipedia: It is a Christian concept regarding the return of Jesus to Earth after his "first coming" and his believed ascension to heaven about two thousand years ago. The belief is based on messianic prophecies found in the canonical gospels and is part of most Christian eschatologies. Views about the nature of Jesus' Second Coming vary among Christian denominations and among individual Christians.

Here are the words of Apostle Paul regarding the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5
The Day of the Lord
16 Rejoice always,
17 pray continually,
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,
2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

Romans 12
Love in Action
11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Colossians 4
2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Life is short, death is sure, as our Dear Pastor Clem Guillermo would often say during memorial service for members of our church, where at times, I would be assigned for the opening prayer.

I even had the privilege to give the message itself for the memorial service for the mother of our Dear Pastor Bernie De Ramos because Pastor Clem could not come all the way to Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

During the funeral service for my younger sister Lina in December 2018, no Pastor was available, so I asked her husband, my brother-in-law, and my eldest sister if it would be okay that I would give the message, they agreed so I did give the message.

Why I am mentioning this, is that those moments make me ponder at death when it would come to be my time.

To quote again Apostle Paul. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Philippians 2:21)

Our Dear Pastor Clem would say, for once in our life, each of us will at least for once be put on with make-up, although by the embalmist, the question is, are we ready for make-up and looking forward to the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! Come and share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:21). I am praying for the Lord to keep me faithful until the very end. Amen.

My Dear Friend, I pray that you be blessed by this message, and if it is such, then please share it with family and friends whom you believe will be blessed as well.

Also, I would appreciate your indicating comments for this blog.

Maraming salamat. The Lord bless the work of your hands. Amen and Amen.
